Promoting innovation, technology transfer to society and the creation of companies are the main objectives of the Second Meeting of High Technology Incubators promoted by the Incyde Foundation, thanks to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which opened this afternoon at UCAM HiTech.

The opening ceremony was attended by María Dolores García, UCAM President, who stressed how ‘today we can clearly see the united efforts of the University, the Public Administration and the European Commission, all with a firm shared commitment to innovation’. And José Luis Bonet, President of the Incyde Foundation and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, emphasised that ‘the public-private collaboration is the key to the success of this network of incubators aimed at supporting and coaching entrepreneurs and innovative companies’.

Meanwhile, Fernando López Miras, President of the Region of Murcia, stated that ‘today the Region of Murcia is a national and international protagonist in innovation, research, development, high technology, future and progress, thanks to two institutions, the Incyde Foundation and the Universidad Católica de Murcia’.

In addition, Vicente Rodríguez, head of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional Policy for Spain and Portugal, spoke at the opening of the event, highlighting ‘the spirit of collaboration and solidarity of this meeting, which should drive and boost our efforts towards a common future that is ever more prosperous and equitable’.

Over the two days of the event, representatives of the 20 incubators from different parts of Spain will participate in working sessions to establish collaborations in order to consolidate themselves as a backbone of the national system for the transfer of technology, research, development and innovation. These sessions will address projects in different sectors as diverse as biotechnology, water, food, health and 3D printing, among others.
